Volvo’s luxury brand has launched its first model, priced at $155,000. Polestar made the announcement of its Polestar 1 pricing at the Beijing Motor Show last week. Also on offer by Polestar, a subscription program for the Polestar 1. Much like subscription programs available for smart phones, the Polestar 1 subscription will offer insurance and maintenance costs, amongst other perks, for a flat monthly fee.
The Polestar 1 will be produced in a somewhat limited run, with only 500 cars being produced per year out of the company’s Chengdu plant. The model will feature an internal structure made primarily of carbon fiber and a 600 horsepower powertrain with up to 93 miles of electric range.
Following the Tesla strategic model, Polestar’s future vehicles will be produced in greater quantities and at a cheaper price. Read more.
