At the Tokyo Motor Show this month, Subaru debuted two new hybrids: the 2019 Crosstrek e-Boxer Advance Hybrid prototype and the 2019 Forester e-Boxer Hybrid. According to Torque News, the vehicles will be sold first in Japan, with a launch in Europe to follow. For the U.S. and North America market, Subaru plans to launch the Crosstrek Plug-In which will “incorporate Toyota Prius Prime technology.”
The two e-Boxer Hybrid models will employ a Subaru 2L Boxer engine in combination with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. For the Forester, this combination will produce a total output of 187lb-ft of torque with 143hp directly from the engine and an additional 13.4hp from the motor. Read more.
