September 2015 trial date set for Hyundai/Kia lawsuit

PRESS RELEASE | JUNE 9, 2015

BALTIMORE – South Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia will go to trial over charges they are infringing on patented hybrid vehicle technology on September 21 in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. U.S. District Court Judge Marvin Garbis announced the trial dates in a May 26 order.

Paice LLC and the Abell Foundation filed the lawsuit in 2012 when it became apparent that Hyundai and Kia were selling hybrid vehicles that infringed on patented technology that Paice developed. Paice is responsible for developing many of the world’s most significant hybrid vehicle inventions. These inventions laid the foundation for developing a cost-effective vehicle that could improve fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions without sacrificing driving performance.
