Porsche’s new Cayenne E-Hybrid uses a smart technology to calibrate battery usage to the route the driver takes. An e-Mobility engineer at Porsche notes, “The system checks your route to determine how much of it would benefit from greater electric-motor involvement… If the destination is in a large city, it will keep more of the battery charge for that.”
The Cayenne E-Hybrid employs a 14.1kWh battery combined with a 3L turbocharged V6 engine with a system output of 455hp and 516lb-ft of torque. The powertrain pushes the vehicle to a top speed of 157 mph, and can accelerate to 6-mph in 5 seconds. The plug-in Cayenne can charge to full capacity in two hours. Wired has the details. Read more.
