It was a banner month for auto sales, which helped push hybrid vehicles to the second best sales month in history. More than 1.6 million vehicles were purchased in the U.S. in May, the most in a decade. Hybrid sales were up 32% over April with 52,227 vehicles sold.
Toyota continues to lead the way with four of the top five selling hybrids, but several hybrid models set records for monthly sales including the Ford Fusion, Toyota Avalon, Honda Accord, Subaru XV Crosstrek and Chevrolet Impala. Read more at www.hybridcars.com.
