Hybrid Cars has released its monthly sales numbers for hybrid and electrified vehicles for June 2018. Overall sales decreased from May, but increased over this month last year. Tesla, Toyota and Ford had particularly good months, with Honda’s new models also performing well.
Tesla’s increased production numbers in the month of June contributed to its high sales total for the month: 5500 cars. Though a decrease on total sales for the Model 3 off of May 2018, the model still led the Battery Electric Vehicle category. The Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Bolt EV took the second and third sports with 1367 and 1313 sales, respectively.
Sales of plug-in hybrids increased 33.5% compared to June of 2017, though sales fell 8.4% since May of 2018. Toyota’s Prius Prime led the category, followed by the Chevrolet Volt and Honda Clarity Plug-In.
Toyota also led the full hybrid category, this time with its Prius Liftback model, which increased in sales off of May. Toyota also took the number three spot with its RAV4 Hybrid. The Ford Fusion Hybrid performed strongly, selling 4683 vehicles for the month. Read more.
