Jeep Wrangler to adopt plug-in hybrid

Jeep continues its march toward a plug-in offering with the automaker confirming the arrival of its Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid. In a new article for The Torque Report, Marc Carter dissects recent updates on the model, reporting that the PHEV’s power electronics module, containing its power inverter and integrated dual charger module, among other features, is to be produced in Ohio.

Brian Harlow, Head of Manufacturing at Fiat Chrysler North America, Jeep’s parent company, commented on the forthcoming plug-in, saying, “As the most iconic of the Jeep nameplates, it is critical that we flawlessly execute the launch of the Wrangler PHEV.” The Jeep is set to arrive in 2020 and join FCA’s significant line-up of electrified vehicles.
