Hyundai upgrades 2018 Sonata PHEV with stronger range

Hyundai has updated its Sonata plug-in for the 2018 model year. The vehicle carries 28 miles of all electric range, a small improvement on the previous model year’s 27 miles. The 2018 Sonata PHEV also comes equipped with a set of new features, including Driver Attention Alert and an additional USB port in the second row.

The 2018 model employs a 2.0L GDI 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine in combination with a 50kW electric motor. The vehicle also contains a 9.8kWh lithium-ion battery. Both the Li-ion battery and the electric motor are upgrades on the PHEV’s sister vehicle, the Sonata Hybrid. Hyundai has priced the Sonata PHEV at $33,250. Read more.
