Ford to launch new Mondeo hybrid in Europe

Though Ford is discontinuing the Fusion hybrid in the United States, the automaker is moving forward with the vehicle’s counterpart in Europe. The Mondeo, Ford’s European Fusion, will continue to be sold, and the automaker will add a hybrid version. Roelant de Waard, Ford’s VP of Marketing, Sales and Service for Europe, commented on the electrified Mondeo, saying, “For many customers the practicality offered by a wagon body style is an absolute must, so we’re excited to announce that from next year those drivers will also be able to reduce their fuel bills using the sophisticated petrol-electric powertrain of our new Mondeo Hybrid wagon.” The Mondeo hybrid will debut in 2019, likely with a 2L engine in combination with a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery.
