CAFE Regulations Drive Automakers to Push Electric Cars

The NY Times reports that despite a sputtering demand for electric vehicles, automakers are continuing to make huge investments in green vehicles.

The 2015 Detroit Auto Show featured a string of announcements about new electric vehicles, including a refreshed Chevrolet Volt and a plug-in hybrid version of Hyundai’s Sonata sedan.

The announcements are the latest attempt to find the winning formula for electric cars as automakers feel increasing pressure to meet strict federal regulations for emissions and fuel economy.
